Materials to be used: Student's book “Solutions” Tim Falla, Paul A Davies, handouts, whiteboard, Power Point presentation,
laptop, CD.
Procedure
1. Greeting: T. Good morning, children! Sit down, please. I’m glad
to meet you at our lesson. I hope everything will be fine. Be more active and
don’t be afraid of making mistakes.
2.
Warm up:
T. “Except
a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book! They teach us and
open their hearts to us as brothers,” wrote Charles Kingsley, an English writer
of the 19th century. It is a friend and a teacher. We
learn many things by reading books. It is impossible to become an educated
person without books. They play an important role in our lives and give us a
lot of useful information. (Slide 4).
Today we are
beginning a new unit. It is about books and writers. At the end of the lesson
you will be able to:

use new vocabulary, speak and write about different kinds
of books;
·
listen
and understand the text and the dialogue;
·
make
up and role-play the dialogues,
dealing with the subject discussed in the lesson;
·
express
own opinions and views on the topic;

1.Presenting the new
vocabulary
·
Teacher:
I would like to present you the new vocabulary. Match the words with different
types of books (Slide 5)
fiction - [mass noun] literature in the form of prose, especially novels,
that describes imaginary events and people;
non-fiction
– [mass noun] prose writing that is informative or factual
rather than fictional;
science-fiction – [mass noun] fiction based on imagined future scientific or
technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently
portraying space or time travel and life on other planets;
thrillers - novels with an exciting plot, typically
involving crime;
ghost stories - stories
about ghosts, intended to be frightening;
fairy tales - fairy
stories.

was very frightened now. He got up and went to the bathroom to wash his face.
He looked in the mirror and screamed. In front of him, in the mirror, there was
the head of the dead man. There were no eyes, and no nose, just deep black
holes. Then suddenly the head came alive, and it began to laugh.
