Objectives:
At the end of the lesson students will be able to:
·        use new vocabulary, speak and write about different kinds of books;
·        listen and understand the text and the dialogue;
·        make up and role-play the dialogues, dealing with the subject discussed in the lesson;
·        express own opinions and views on the topic;

Vocabulary: fiction, non-fiction, science-fiction, thrillers, ghost stories, fairy tales.
Materials to be used: Student's book “Solutions” Tim Falla, Paul A Davies, handouts, whiteboard, Power Point presentation, laptop, CD.
Procedure
1.     Greeting: T. Good morning, children! Sit down, please. I’m glad to meet you at our lesson. I hope everything will be fine. Be more active and don’t be afraid of making mistakes.
2.     Warm up:
T. “Except a living man there is nothing more wonderful than a book! They teach us and open their hearts to us as brothers,” wrote Charles Kingsley, an English writer of the 19th century. It is a friend and a teacher. We learn many things by reading books. It is impossible to become an educated person without books. They play an important role in our lives and give us a lot of useful information. (Slide 4).
Today we are beginning a new unit. It is about books and writers. At the end of the lesson you will be able to:
·        use new vocabulary, speak and write about different kinds of books;
·        listen and understand the text and the dialogue;
·        make up and role-play the dialogues, dealing with the subject discussed in the lesson;
·        express own opinions and views on the topic;
3.     Presentation of new material.
1.Presenting the new vocabulary
·        Teacher: I would like to present you the new vocabulary. Match the words with different types of books (Slide 5)
fiction - [mass noun] literature in the form of prose, especially novels, that describes imaginary events and people;
non-fiction – [mass noun] prose writing that is informative or factual rather than fictional;
science-fiction[mass noun] fiction based on imagined future scientific or technological advances and major social or environmental changes, frequently portraying space or time travel and life on other planets;
thrillers -  novels with an exciting plot, typically involving crime;
ghost stories - stories about ghosts, intended to be frightening;
fairy tales -  fairy stories.

7.     Reading

4.     ‘Run!’ the man thought. ‘Move! Faster! I can’t stop now.’
Over the man’s head the night sky was black and cold, and in front of him were trees. Tall, dark trees … ‘I can hide here’, the man thought. He looked behind him. He could see the lights. There were five or six men. Then he heard the dogs …
